Since the beginning of 2022, we have been organizing exclusive, culturally historical cruises on the Gouwzee. During these cruises, more emphasis is placed on the rich history of Volendam and its surrounding fishing villages along the IJsselmeer coast. Are you 17 years or older and looking for an active and social (part-time) job on the water? We are currently seeking hosts on board for Spaander Marina.

What are we looking for in you?

  • Spaander Marina is looking for hosts/hostesses starting from April 1st.
  • Passion for hospitality, boats, sailing, and affinity with the most beautiful fishing villages in the Netherlands.
  • You can easily address a group of guests.
  • Service-oriented attitude; you constantly strive for the highest level of experience.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English language.
  • Positive mindset and an open and presentable appearance.
  • You are socially skilled and enjoy telling a historical story about Volendam.
  • Flexible availability on work/weekend days and during holidays.
  • Available from April for a minimum of 16 hours per week.

What does a working day look like?

Your day starts together with the skipper at the Marina harbor in Volendam. You will sail together towards the boarding pier, and during this time, you will prepare the boat for the first guests. They will board at our own pier located in the parking lot of Hotel Spaander. Once the boat is docked at the pier, you and the skipper will welcome the guests and assist them in boarding. After everyone is on board, the boat will follow a route along Volendam, and you will share a historical story about Volendam and its sights. Meanwhile, the guests will have the opportunity to enjoy some food and drinks, which you will take care of. Once the tour is completed, the boat will return to our pier, and you will help the guests disembark and tidy up the boat for the next group. This will be repeated several times a day.
